Job Description
The Scanning Technician is responsible for picking up, preparing, scanning, and the quality assurance of any and all forms used to document patient care into the clinical information system.
Responsibilities
Pick up charts from various areas within the hospital.
Prepares charts for scanning.
1. Ensures patient labels are accurate/correct on all documents to be scanned.
2. Ensures that the appropriate barcode is properly affixed to each non-barcoded
document
3. Investigates any and all forms with no patient labels affixed for accurate prepping.
Performs Quality Assurance and Deficiency Completion on Scanned Document

Scans Charts by record type
Indexes scanned documents to ensure correct placement of a document within the chart.
Reconciling and Processing of Medical Records and Work queue
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in Health Information Management preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained. Knowledge of medical terminology. Position requires ability to interact with various individuals. Good communication skills, attention to detail, data entry skills, knowledge of PC and printer operations, telephone etiquette, use of copy machine and fax machine.

Responsibilities
Pick up charts from various areas within the hospital.
- Ensure all charts are picked up, investigates, and documents any missing charts.
- Checks in charts that have been received.
- Investigates charts not on discharge list.
Prepares charts for scanning.
1. Ensures patient labels are accurate/correct on all documents to be scanned.
2. Ensures that the appropriate barcode is properly affixed to each non-barcoded
document
3. Investigates any and all forms with no patient labels affixed for accurate prepping.
Performs Quality Assurance and Deficiency Completion on Scanned Document
- Reconciles the paper document with the scanned image to ensure all paper has
been scanned.
- Ensures the image quality is good, the document is the correct type, and the proper
keywords are assigned to the document.
Scans Charts by record type
Indexes scanned documents to ensure correct placement of a document within the chart.
Reconciling and Processing of Medical Records and Work queue
- 30 Day Scanned Batched for confidential Destruction
- 'Needs Scanning Deficiency" Work queue with QA Discharge Lists
Qualifications
