Job Description
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the implementation, administration, analysis, and compliance of all team member benefits across The Christ Hospital Health Network. This role ensures the health system's benefits are competitive, cost-effective, and supportive of the organization's mission to deliver exceptional care. The Benefits Manager serves as a senior subject-matter expert, oversees vendor performance, partners with HR and operational leaders, and ensures an outstanding team-member experience.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in related field, Master's preferred or equivalent years of experience; CEBS professional designation preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 7-10 years of progressive benefits management experience implementing competitive, cost-effective health, welfare and retirement benefits programs, including developing effective benefits communications.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Health and Welfare design and analysis and implementation. Knowledge of Federal, State and IRS regulations to include ACA, COBRA, FMLA and ERISA, Qualified and Non-Qualified Retirement plans. Established experience analyzing benefit plan and vendor performance with a focus on cost containment. Excellent persuasive communication skills (verbal and written), presentation, time management and organization skills required. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new approaches. Clear and concise communicator. Excellent presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels within the network. Proven effectiveness at being flexible, creative, team oriented and results-driven. Strong skills in writing, delivering presentations and using software applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).

Responsibilities
Strategic Benefits Management
- Lead the implementation, analysis, compliance and administration of health, welfare, retirement, and all other voluntary benefits.
- Evaluate benefit plan performance and recommend that align with organizational goals and market competitiveness.
- Support long-term benefits and health planning, including cost modeling, benchmarking, and trend analysis.
Vendor & Plan Administration
- Manage relationships with third-party administrators, brokers, and benefit carriers.
- Manage external benefit call centers and enrollment platforms.
- Oversee renewals and service-level performance while working with DIR on RFPs and contract negotiations.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of enrollments, premiums, invoices, and eligibility feeds.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS guidelines, and applicable state regulations.
- Lead audits, 5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain plan documents, policies, and internal controls.
Employee Experience & Communication
- Develop and execute clear benefits communication strategies, including open enrollment, plan changes, population health programs and educational programs.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex employee benefit issues, partnering with HR Business Partners and leaders.
- Oversee benefits components of onboarding and annual enrollment processes.
HRIS, Payroll, Reporting & Data Analytics
- Work closely with HRIS and Payroll to ensure benefit system accuracy, workflow updates, and process optimization.
- Analyze benefits data and produce dashboards, utilization reports, and cost projections for leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve technology, automation, and service delivery.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Supervise benefits team, providing coaching, development, and workload oversight.
- Collaborate with payroll, finance, legal, HRBP teams, and clinical leadership to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Contribute to Total Rewards strategy and special projects such as benefit and compensation programs and workforce initiatives.
