Job Description
Teach courses. Coordinates optimal learning experiences for students. Contributes to the college's operational effectiveness through participation in governance and continuous evaluation of critical outcome measures. Reports directly to the Dean, Nursing.
Responsibilities
Teaches assigned classes.
• Contributes to the development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum utilizing the Nursing Department's philosophy and organizing framework, and program outcomes.
• Teaches class sessions utilizing a variety of appropriate, evidence-based teaching strategies to facilitate student learning and assist students to meet course and program outcomes.
• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of subject matter.
• Evaluates students based on course outcomes and facilitates strategies for student improvement.
• Provides timely constructive feedback to students.
• Acts as a proponent for student-centered teaching environment.
• Grounds teaching strategies in educational theory and evidence0based teaching practices.
• Participates in peer review.
Designs and supervises clinical learning experiences to facilitate students meeting course outcomes.
• Selects and designs evidence-based clinical learning experiences which foster the student's transfer of course theory to the practice setting.
• Communicates clinical outcomes and orients students to the assigned clinical site.
• Implements clinical teaching strategies based on current education and practice based research during clinical instruction and supervision of students.
• Provides both informal and formal feedback to students regarding clinical performance, utilizing objective, evaluative criteria.
• Utilizes course and clinical evaluation surveys to determine effectiveness of clinical experience.
• Maintains expertise in the assigned area of clinical responsibility, teaching and professional nursing practice.
Contributes to the operational effectiveness of the college. (Service)
• Supports the Mission and strategic plan of the college.
• Proactively participates in the development and evaluation of the college's educational program.
• Participate in faculty governance system, including committee assignments and other service activities.
• Chair college committees/task force
• Serve in the community under the banner of the College.
Role models professional growth and development. (Scholarship)
• Maintains active membership in selected professional nursing organizations.
• Maintains active licensure(s) as required.
• Attends Faculty Development seminars/workshops and in-services.
• Maintains professional and legal standards in relation to client care, appearance and conduct.
• Participate in scholarly activities
• Attends or presents at professional conferences.
Performs other role related responsibilities
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Attend required college functions, such as convocation, graduation, and other events as specified by the Associate Dean
• Provides guidance/supervision to teaching assistants/preceptors, if applicable
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION:
Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in the Ohio Administrative Code.
A master's degree in nursing is required; doctoral degree preferred.
A doctorate of nursing degree may meet the requirement for applicants without a master's degree in nursing.
Certification desirable.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
Candidates will also possess relevant teaching experience, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the college level at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Online teaching experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Quality Matters "Applying the QM Rubric" training preferred.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Current, unencumbered licensure as an RN in Ohio. (Current, active Kentucky licensure may also be required following appointment.), BLS certification required.
