Behavioral Health Therapist - PRN

Job Description

This PRN position will be scheduled with our Outpatient Behavioral Medicine clinic located at 2123 Auburn Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45219.

The clinical therapist will develop and coordinate therapeutic programs in collaboration with program and clinical manager. Therapeutic programs may include counseling, prevention, education ,adjunctive therapies and social and recreational activies as defined by Ohio Department of Mental Health OAC 5122-29. The Clinical Therapist will provide ongoing psychosocial assessment and intervention in collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team to patients and families during individual and/ or group settings to facilitate wellness, stabilization and recovery.

Responsibilities

Direct Service Assessment

1. Assess the psycho-social needs of the patient in collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team

2. Identify barriers to treatment

3. Indentify patient strength

4. Identify effect of illness on the patient as well as family/support systems.

Implement plan of care:

1. Provide realistic intervention to patient and family with consideration given to development, age and resources.

2. Provide comprehensive therapy interventions that assure continuity of care and treatment in the least restrictive manner.

3. Provides therapeutic intervention as it relates to crisis management, healthcare decision making, education, resolution of discharge planning issues, abuse, adjustment to illness, bereavement, compliance issues as well as other psychosocial barriers to stabilization.

4. Advocates, mediates and encourages patient in active participation in the therapeutic groups setting to enhance wellness.

5. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop discharge plan that is reflective of the individual patient needs, resources and development

6. Develop group therapy scheduling for all department population

7. Responds to "all staff" and Code Violet situations per policy 2.14.104.

Professional:

1. Maintains applicable certification and licensure.

2. Maintains membership/ or association in professional organization

4. Maintains practice according to licensure and regulatory standards including that of JCAHO, CMS, ODMH.

5. Networks with colleagues in order to incorporate evidence based, best practice standards into practice.

6. Able to review data for validity and significance.

8. Participates in performance improvement initiatives including/ not limited to data collection, auditing, and presentation.

9. Promotes appropriate use of and maintains therapeutic supplies, equipment

10. Appropriate consideration and use of therapy budget.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: any of the following would qualify. MS Counseling, MS Social Work, MS Nursing, MS psychology.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of mental illness and therapeutic treatments. Competency to facilitate group and individual therapy . Ability to engage adult and geriatric mentally ill populations in therapeutic activities with consideration to age related competency.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Licensed, certified or registered individuals shall comply with current, applicable scope of practice and supervisory requirements identified by appropriate licensing, certifying or registering bodies. (ODMH OAC 5122-29-30)Acceptable licensures/certifications include ; Professional clinical counselor, Board Certification that qualifies one as Expression Therapist under Ohio Department of Mental Health -Art, Recreational, Music or Dance Therapy, Certification in Addition and Recovery.
