Job Description
Responsibilities include the collection of follow-up data on all cases of malignant disease, diagnosed and treated within the facility. Responsible for updating and maintaining cancer registry data.
Responsibilities
• Does follow-up on living patients after treatment and discharge from the hospital to collect information on the quality of life for these patients and length of survival. Enters data into ERS system or registry software. Performs follow-up phone calls or goes to internet Social Security Death Index to search for information about patients. Does Follow-up using all available resources (EPIC, other hospital EMRs, tributes.com, etc.)
• Performs suspense building functions i.e. alphabetical order of pathology reports weekly, printing face sheets from EPIC, enter monthly suspense into ERS or registry software
• Retrieves information from outside facilities, MD offices, or registries as requested for completion of abstracts or follow-up
• Helps with data management projects, data analysis and reports as needed by registrars and/or leadership
• Does Tumor Board preparation with emails, flyers, faxes, phone calls, and documentation; maintains Tumor Board statistics for reports to Cancer Committee, CME, and ACoS. Attends weekly Tumor Board conference and sets up the room.
• Collaborates with physicians, physician offices, and other hospitals to obtain needed records, outside imaging, pathology slides, and information for presentation in Tumor Boards. Prepares weekly case summary hand out for Tumor Board.
• Covers for Follow-up Data Entry Clerk as needed; attend SOCRA meetings; attend educational sessions appropriate for job functions; sort daily mail. Assists and participates, when needed, in marketing and community outreach events.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

Excellent Data Entry, Computer (Word, Excel and Power Point) and internet skills.
Good communication skills; ability to learn ERS (registry software); ability to learn and identify different treatment modalities ie. radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, etc.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
