Job Description

Functions as a member of the Personalized Medicine Program (PMP) by providing education, training, and consultation for health care providers (HCP) and patients regarding germline and somatic genetic characteristics that influence patient management. As part of the Personalized Medicine Leadership team, contributes to strategic and business planning for the program, development of risk communication tools, educational programs and test interpretation services for HCPs, patients and families.

Responsibilities

As part of the PMP team, provides leadership and vision regarding the development, implementation, evaluation and expansion of the program.

With the PMP team, raises awareness and provides education and training for HCP and patients related to personalized medicine and pharmacogenetics (PGx) for cancer and non-cancer conditions.

With PMP team and in collaboration with The Christ Hospital, develops risk communication and decision support tools for HCP and patients.

With MPM team, provides clinical consultation services to HCP and patients, as appropriate, for interpretation and application of testing results.

Assists in the conduct of clinical research and observational studies relevant to implementing and expanding PGx testing at The Christ Hospital.

Promotes education by assisting in the training of students and residents rotating through the Personalized Medicine Program.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Master's Degree from and American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited genetic counseling training program. Education and/or experience in personalized medicine and pharmacogenetics is preferred but not required.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 5 years as a genetic counselor. Leadership skills & experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

ABGC Board Certification (within 6 months of hire)
