Health Sciences Laboratory Coordinator - PRN

Job Description

Provide routine laboratory tasks to assist faculty with lab preparations and disposal of waste. Work in collaboration with associated course faculty as directed.

Responsibilities

Provide laboratory tasks

• Prepare materials and assemble, disassemble, clean and store equipment needed for laboratory experiments and laboratory exams.

• Store and dispose of hazardous wastes using safety procedures.

• Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets in an organized, accessible fashion.

• Enforce lab safety codes in all science lab areas to assure student and employee safety.

• Communicate with science faculty regarding special needs and maintenance of laboratory facilities.

• Maintain inventory system of all science supplies and special equipment.

• Coordinate purchasing of all science supplies and special equipment.

• Coordinate maintenance of laboratory equipment.

• Make appropriate recommendations for cost effective utilization of allocated resources.

• Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

Assist students in the laboratory environment

• Assist faculty with student experiments in lab as needed.

• Proctor exams as needed.

Performs other role related responsibilities

• Other responsibilities as assigned

• Attend required college functions, such as convocation, graduation, and other events as specified by the Dean

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor Degree in biology or chemistry

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• One year of laboratory experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to demonstrate capability to collaborate and effectively communicate with faculty and students is critical
