Mammography Technologist Lead - Montgomery - Full Time - Days

Job Description

Performs all duties of a mammography technologist in the Breast Center to include mammography, procedures, and bone density studies. In the absence of the supervisor, coordinates the daily activities of the Breast Center to include addressing patient and physician issues, urgent scheduling, staffing concerns and supply management. Monitors x-ray equipment and documentation of critical information on the patient history form for adherence to quality standards. Assists with documenting all ACR/FDA requirements. Makes recommendations to and assists supervisor to correct any deficiencies. Assist supervisor with department specific orientation for new hires. May assist with required education/training programs for staff and maintain records for compliance. Provides input into capital and minor equipment purchases.


Assists Mammography Supervisor with the daily department operations, maximizes services and maintains the workflow ensuring assignments are performed within established time frames. Assists others as needed.

Performs imaging and procedural duties of a Registered Mammography Technologist.

Follows testing protocols as established by the Medical Director and related professional standards. Operates equipment safely and properly. Produces quality study images & data by demonstrating competence and proper use of imaging and accessory equipment. Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, and obtains an appropriate history prior to each test.

Confirms appropriateness of supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed.

Explains testing procedures to patients, family members and other staff members connected to the care of the patient as needed.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control/Performance Improvement:

  • Monitors X-Ray Equipment for Quality Control
  • Performs and documents all QC tests required by ACR/FDA.
  • Responsible for updating other technologists of new techniques concerning procedures performed or equipment used at the Breast Center.

Follows Quality Improvement and Infection Control standards.

  • Engages in department meetings and shares responsibility for agenda.
  • Maintains personal and equipment infection control standards for the safe and hygienic delivery of services. Monitors appropriate hand hygiene practices.

Orders supplies through appropriate information system and works collaboratively with each area to maintain adequate supply inventory.

Customer/Patient Satisfaction: treats all customers including staff in a courteous and respectful manner. Assist supervisor with implementation of department specific initiatives and holding staff accountable for adherence to customer satisfaction policies and procedures and initiatives. Acts as a liaison to other departments and referring physician offices to provide service and resolve issues.

Communicates all necessary information with Mammography Supervisor effectively.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager or designee

EDUCATION: A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited 2-year program

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist with Advanced credentials in mammography. Minimum 2 years' experience in Mammography.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Skilled Mammographer with appropriate credentials. Experience in ACR accreditation, MQSA, State law and all QA processes. Computer skills a must with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Excellent communication skills, verbally and written. Excellent customer service skills.


Registered as a Radiologic Technologist, registered by the ARRT with advanced imaging certification in mammography. Licensed by the state of Ohio.
