Job Description
To perform point of care testing on blood, urine, and stool samples as ordered and adhere to point of care testing standards set by the lab.
Responsibilities
Performs BioSite, I-Stat, Status, and Quidal Testing according to manufacturer's instruction
Uses Universal Precautions when handling blood and/or body fluid
Only accepts specimens that are properly labeled with patient's name and medical record number and time/date specimen drawn. The only time this should be deviated from is when a patient requires emergency life saving intervention prior to being able to identify the patient (example: unidentified comatose patient).
Keeps work area clean and organized. Stocks and inventories supplie
Reports any unusual occurrences immediately to Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager or to the Charge Nurse on Duty
Cleans BioSite, I-Stat, and Status. Monitors/Adheres following manufactures recommendation
