President of The Christ Hospital Physicians (TCHP)

Job Description

The TCHP President will partner with TCHP physician leadership to drive growth, clinical, operational, and patient experience excellence as part of the integrated delivery system. They will have oversight for all matters related to overall medical group performance, inclusive of operational, clinical, and financial metrics, and will enhance a culture that promotes the highest quality of care across all sites, developing relationships between physicians within the group, the Hospital and hospital-based physicians, other clinical hubs, and other clinical partners to provide the optimal patient experience through the continuum of care improvement. They will build a cohesive, high-performing medical group that is focused on service excellence, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement through the development of successful performance improvement standards and practices. They will create a highly attractive and high performing practice environment for physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff. The TCHP President will work closely with the Network's Chief Medical Officer to coordinate and ensure accountability for quality-of-care delivery across TCHP, its ambulatory sites and achieving the goals of TCHP that are in alignment with the strategic goals of the Network related to quality, safety, experience, affordability, and cost-effective care delivery. They will be a critical thought leader with responsibility for strategy development and execution for ambulatory care and be actively engaged in driving the strategy, growth, and alignment of internal and external physician relationships within and across TCHP and the Network. They will work collaboratively and cohesively with the Service Line Executive Directors and Executive Medical Directors to incorporate service line strategies within TCHP and be committed to a culture that is supportive of physicians and fosters their professional development. The TCHP President will have accountability for medical group performance related to population health measures in accordance with value-based care initiatives, ACOs and other risk-based contracts and alternative payment models of which the Network as made the decision to engage in.

Responsibilities

Job Duties will include:

  • Incorporates & demonstrates the Network's Values & Vision in behaviors, practices & decisions.
  • Directs, implements, and maintains strategic planning for areas of responsibility aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the Network. Is a key participant in the Health Network's strategic planning and goal setting processes for both the Network and for TCHP.
  • Provides strategic and visionary input to transform the care delivery model, creating a standardized, evidence-based approach to patient care and a more consistent patient experience through the enhancement of clinical integration and care coordination across all clinic sites.
  • Oversees and is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan in partnership with the Service Line Leadership, the Medical Staff, TCHP providers, and ambulatory practice sites throughout TCHHN.
  • Ensures TCHP has an o perating structure that enables the practice to achieve targeted efficient and effective performance in all aspects of quality, safety, patient/team member experience and affordability, including effectiveness metrics for physician leaders in TCHP's clinical practices and its ambulatory sites.
  • Manages all aspects of TCHP, including resources necessary to meet clinical, quality, financial, strategic, and operational targets; monitors and evaluates progress of these targets, including regular report outs in meetings, and in achieving overall efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery; implements modifications in resource allocation, as necessary.
  • Fosters an environment in which physicians and other providers are fully engaged and valued, and issues of wellness are proactively addressed.
  • Broad accountability for achieving TCHP's targeted metrics, inclusive of metrics for patient satisfaction; access; physician, provider, and colleague engagement; quality/safety; primary care membership growth; provider financial investment and support and overarching financial stewardship.
  • Oversees and the development of the TCHP workforce plan (MD's and APPs) and supports the due diligence process for, acquisition, divestiture, partnership opportunities, and other alignment strategies as set forth in the strategic plan.
  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets for TCHP according to network policies and holds ultimate accountability for managing the TCHP budget throughout the year to mitigate variances via appropriate cost-control programs, policies, and practices.
  • Within TCHP, identifies and develops physician leaders in each service area to drive innovation and care delivery model transformation.
  • Works collaboratively with the Network's Executive Team to manage the fiscal oversight of allocated resources in order to optimize return on investment for service initiatives.
  • Continually assesses the TCHP's governance and operating structure and recommends approaches deemed necessary to effectively organize and operationalize key strategic activities.
  • Represents the Network with key affiliates in numerous forums including committees, boards, and community activities.
  • Assures that all new initiatives are thoroughly evaluated, analyzed, properly organized and consistent with the Network's growth plan.
  • Oversees fiscal management activities, growth initiatives, and the linkage of financial plans with business strategies.
  • Represents the Network and TCHP in external contract negotiations as applicable.
  • Works with the Network's Executive Team to ensure adequate, on-going, and open communication occurs with providers, managers, and stakeholders regarding the Network and TCHP's performance.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key Network leaders crucial to the organization's success.
  • Supports and enhances Population Health initiatives including the development of ACO strategies, risk stratification, understanding social determinants of health, wellness and preventive care, access to behavioral health, chronic care management, palliative care, and team-based care.
  • Monitors the TCHP's continuous performance improvement on clinical, financial, service, access, and managed care standards. Works with TCHP physician and executive leadership to forward appropriate interventions to improve and achieve benchmark performance in line with the Network's strategic, financial, and operational goals.
  • Promotes and partners with other executive leaders, develops and implements innovative technologies and innovations with applications, including the use of AI/Generative AI and associated technology enhancements across clinical and patient experience domains to achieve strategic goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the CMIO to ensure optimization of use of the EHR by physicians, APPs, and staff of TCHP.
  • Enhances physician and provider knowledge of available clinical services and actively works to coordinate and enhance ease of access throughout TCHP and the organization through optimization of patient care and services.
  • Partners with other leaders in the development and implementation of business strategies that promote acquisition, affiliation and/or integration opportunities with other provider groups.
  • Responsible for negotiation and approval of the Network's physician employment contracts and compensation models, in partnership with the Network's VP Strategic Business Development/Chief Legal Officer in accordance with TCHP/TCHHN policies.
  • Provides the leadership necessary to ensure the TCHP is consistently meeting all regulatory requirements including working with the Network's Chief Medical Officer to ensure that TCHP and related physicians are in full compliance with all applicable regulatory agency rules and regulations to include but not limited to CMS's Conditions of Participation, all Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations, Joint Commission, Ohio/Kentucky and Indiana Departments of Health, OSHA, Ohio/Ky/Indiana Medical Associations.
  • Fosters and oversees development of robust medical and research program where applicable within TCHP and fosters relationship with The Christ Hospital Carl and Edyth Lindner Research Institute, Service Line leaders and other physician executive leadership to enhance TCHHN research capabilities and be in compliance with all regulatory statues and IRB rules and regulations relating to such.


Qualifications

Educational/Licensure Required:

  • Must possess an advanced degree such as a master's in health administration, master's in business administration, an advanced degree in a related field or a bachelor's degree with commensurate years of leadership experience related to multispecialty practice management.
  • Must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD, DO)


Experience Required:

  • Must have a minimum of 7 - 10 years of leadership experience, including progressive leadership responsibilities in the healthcare industry, inclusive of experience in multispecialty medical groups and integrated healthcare delivery systems/hospital systems.
  • Experience in designing physician/provider compensation programs and demonstrated knowledge of appropriate physician/provider incentive compensation programs.
  • Experience establishing, pursuing, and monitoring appropriate process and outcome measures for key population health initiatives; evaluating the processes by which clinical care and patient services are delivered; identifying areas of opportunity, setting standards for outcomes, developing appropriate systems to monitor outcomes and achieve desired results.


Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of healthcare management principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the content, intent, and application of regulations, policies, standards, operations, and requirements applicable to a multi-specialty physician group practice
  • Successful track record of providing effective administrative and physician leadership, developing physician engagement and driving clinical quality outcomes.
  • Proven track record of rolling out digital telehealth and helping to ensure it is a core competency of the medical group to help expand access.
  • Familiarity with advanced information systems, knowledge of AI/Generative AI.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards related to multispecialty provider practices.
