Radiation Therapist - Montgomery - PRN

Job Description

Provides basic patient care to patients when performing treatments and procedures. Performs prescribed treatments and procedures on radiation oncology patients according to physician prescriptions.

Responsibilities

Delivers radiation treatments according to physician prescription and treatment record. Displays competency in stereotactic and emergency treatment procedures. Operates specialized technologies for advanced treatment techniques.

Operates CT simulator according to safety guidelines. During simulation rotation assist physicians in the treatment planning area with treatment simulation. Creates custom immobilization devices specific to patient's physical abilities and physician orders. Photograph patients for documentation purposes. Performs simple calculations as required.

Captures images based on prescription and analyzes images to ensure accurate setup and treatment.

Maintains pre-treatment and treatment records. Obtains a signed consent, prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification as part of this record. Ensures all necessary documentation has been obtained and kept up-to-date for both accurate patient setup and to ensure proper documentation for insurance and billing.

Performs daily quality assurance including output measurements, mechanical functions, and imaging accuracy.

Maintains daily treatment schedule, including new starts and special procedures in coordination with physician schedules. Initiates charges.

Performs billing audits and checks charges weekly.

Instructs/supervises radiation therapy technology students.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Must be a graduate of a JRCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: New graduates are acceptable.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Completing the competency checklist will be the provider basis for the required skills and knowledge.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Must be registered by and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a radiation therapist as well as licensed by the State of Ohio in Radiation Therapy.
