Respiratory Therapist IV - Full Time - Nights

Delivers critical and non critical patient care services to all age groups using selected invasive and noninvasive techniques related to the cardiopulmonary system. Provides respiratory care in in-patient and out-patient areas. Demonstrates a high level of commitment and professionalism. Must practice within scope of practice in accordance with the licensure act.

Responsibilities

Performs and monitors patient progress and response to service. Assesses patients and makes appropriate recommendations based on outcomes with regard to therapeutic interventions.

In accordance with hospital policy and procedure, performs all duties as a respiratory care practitioner as assigned.

Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Correctly records all information in the patient legal record and maintains department records.

Educates patients on their diseases state, wellness, home care modalities and safety. Treatments performed as related to age specific needs.

Educates/Precepts students and new orientee's to the roles/responsibilities of a RCP

Applies technical knowledge to consult physicians with regard to cardiopulmonary status.

Participates in in-services and meetings, completes competencies. Monitors all department communications.

May be responsible for charge/team leader roles and other assigned dutie

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program with RRT credential.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Credentials of RRT issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Prefer active membership in American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Must demonstrate critical care knowledge as it relates to cardiopulmonary disease states.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Candidate must have a current license to practice respiratory care issued by the state. Current BLS with ACLS required and NRP for respective work areas preferred.
