Supervisor, Analytics and Decision Support

Job Description

As a part of the Network Finance team, the Supervisor of Enterprise Analytics is responsible for assisting in all aspects of providing oversight, coordination, and operational delivery of healthcare decision making information, through the use of efficient and effective database tools. Working primarily with Service Line Leaders, Physician Division Leaders, IT, Financial and Clinical Directors, the Enterprise Analytics Supervisor will help determine and meet their information needs.



• Assist DSS management in the development of team processes and standards around request prioritization, requirements-gathering, report/dashboard development, quality assurance, end-user communication.

• Manage Enterprise Analytics request queue and team resources to deliver quality reporting and analytics to end-users in accordance with established priorities.

• Assist Manager in identifying learning needs and opportunities for improvement or enhancement of analytic skills and domain expertise within the team.

• Assist Analysts in deep dives to support Service Line and Departmental information analysis, improvement work, and metrics reporting needs.

• Provide input on the maintenance of the system in terms of auditing and cleansing data, updating tables, modeling net revenue, developing cost standards.

Other Departmental Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of upgrades, new software and data systems, as necessary to allow for efficient report production and delivery, as well as end-user ease of use.

• Assist in the analysis of requirements, preparation of data for entry, coordination and review testing of new systems, training other analysts and administrators in use, maintaining data and system integrity

Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement

• Work with DSS Management to proactively identify Enterprise Analytics process improvement opportunities required to improve service and implements solutions.

Third Party Relationship Management

• Maintain effective working relationships with the external software vendors. Act as point of contact for external governmental and non-governmental agencies that we are contractually required to report recurring data to.

Leadership and Human Resource Management

• Foster teamwork within the Enterprise Analytics department

• Other - perform other duties as necessary or assigned by the Director and Manager of Enterprise Analytics/DSS and Service Line CFO


• Professional attitude and ability to relate well with executive management, physicians, other care providers, patients, and others in the hospital/Network community.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (e.g. BSN required, MSN preferred.):

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required; undergraduate coursework in business, finance, or accounting fields strongly recommended. 3 years equivalent and relevant internal experience required or 2 years relevant work experience and an earned Master's Degree. Equivalent or relevant experience is defined as knowledge in Hospital clinical and financial databases as well as patient registration and patient flow together with fundamental financial and leadership skills.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Expertise in: spreadsheets, graphics, and database software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint presentations) and MS SQL.

Experience in: SQL and programming applications using relational database management systems, performing data analysis and researching data quality issues, healthcare coding, billing, and reimbursement.

Must possess: excellent communication skills; both verbal and written, and the ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds (education, training, cultures).

Subject matter domain experience: clinical quality or financial/revenue cycle (preferably both)
