System Engineer Senior

Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer for the Enterprise Technical Services Team is responsible for the The Christ Hospital's IT infrastructure architecture - primarily datacenter, server, server virtualization. This individual will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures for all Compute services. This individual is responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of these resources.

Responsibilities

Provides technical analysis, design, and support for the virtual environment as required for daily system operations, system upgrades and new releases.

Performs basic troubleshooting of infrastructure and application issues escalated from facility or regional technical support and engineering teams as well as issues reported by application analysts.

Works with other analysts and in association with IT engineers, architects and resources, contribute to the research, development, documenting, testing and deployment of new technology, SU loads, and upgrades for use across the enterprise.

Develops and maintain detailed documentation on system configurations and technical components.

Works with technology and application teams to ensure systems infrastructure changes and issues are communicated to the necessary teams across the region or enterprise.

Assists in the cross regional development of process, procedures for support of enterprise applications.

Participates in enterprise change management processes.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (8) years of experience in systems integration, data center, Windows servers, server virtualization.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise and/or certification in server operating systems (MS Windows)
  • Expertise and/or certification in virtualization technologies (VMWare)
  • Expertise and/or certification in topologies and implementations (TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Working knowledge of Windows based print queues, file shares, and user/group (Active Directory) administration
  • Expertise and/or certification in infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Strong foundation in design, analysis, and evaluation of IT systems
  • Demonstrates leadership experience and ability to lead complex interdisciplinary projects
  • Understands the impact of the infrastructure on the organization as well as interdependencies of complex systems to make informed decisions.
  • Articulates and effectively communicates solutions, impacts, and risks to management as the need arises.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Microsoft and VMware Industry Certifications such as server MCP/MCSE, CCA, VCP, or equivalent is required.
