Advanced Practice Provider - CVICU

Job Description

Job Overview:

This APP will be responsible for covering IP CVICU.

Coverage includes: IP rounding, admissions/transfers/discharges, Arterial and Central line insertion, Swan Ganz placement, intubation, etc. The CVICU is a high acuity unit with coverage of acute Cardiogenic shock, MI, VAD, Heart Transplant, etc. Straight night shift or Day/Night rotation. This includes Holiday rotation and weekend coverage as needed - Full time

  • APP team with multidisciplinary background in various areas of critical care, both NP and PAs welcome, experience in CVICU/ MCS desired
  • Day/Night rotation (3 shifts per week) or straight night shift (7 on/ 7 off) available
  • 256 hours of CME/ PTO with stipend
  • APP directly manages patients with oversight of CVICU intensivist

The Christ Hospital - CVICU Background

  • 555 bed hospital in the heart of Cincinnati, Ohio

  • 28 bed CVICU with major focus on cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, biventricular support, heart transplantation, total artificial heart, LVAD implantation
  • Perioperative care for > 1000 Cardiopulmonary bypass cases per year
  • Structural heart program performing TMVR, TTVR, TAVR, PV intervention, experimental protocols and novel devices
  • ACGME accredited fellowship programs in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Structural Interventional Cardiology - Faculty/Teaching opportunities if desired
  • Affiliation with the Lindner Research Institute, Clinical Trial Research opportunities if desired
  • Open CVICU with very collaborative collegial work environment - intensivist manages primarily with closed loop communication with heart failure cardiology, cardiac surgery and cardiac transplant surgery
  • 2 Physicians during the day and one physician at night with 3 APPs during the day and 2 at night


Responsibilities

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) may be an APRN or PA that has been prepared with the appropriate graduate level education and authorized to practice and prescribe as such. May provide general medical and/or surgical care and treatment to patients in a medical setting (office, telemedicine, hospital, Urgent Care, LTC, or Clinic) in collaboration with physician(s) for APP's where dictated. If the APP will be practicing in the hospital setting, the delineation of privileges will also dictate the scope of practice.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from accredited Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

License/Certification:

  • DEA license
  • BLS and ACLS certified


Certified Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care, Adult, or Family Nurse Practitioner certification verified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Current, valid license (registration) by the Ohio Board of Nursing or applicable state board

OR

Physician Assistant: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program with a Master's Degree Physician Assistant Certification (verified by the National Commission or the Certification of Physician Assistant - NCCPA. Current, valid license (registration) by the state Medical Board of Ohio or applicable state medical board. Current Certificate to prescribe by the State Medical Board of Ohio.

Experience: Prior Cardiology ICU APP and/or RN ICU experience preferred.
