Job Description
Responsible for coordinating the activities of service associates engaged in food operations, including retail cafeteria, patient services and sanitation. Demonstrates substantial working knowledge of food operations and applies HACCP food safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Functions as 'person in charge' in absence of Manager. Assists in all aspects of service to employees, visitors and patients. Provides input to Managers regarding associate performance. Covers staffing shortages when the manager is not available. Assists in addressing customer and/or patient concerns.
Performs quality control functions relative to area of responsibility. Ensures staff maintain clean and sanitary conditions in food service areas. Ensures staff follow proper food handling procedures during all phases of preparation, storage and service. Monitors HACCP principles and compliance with hospital and Health Department standards. Ensures accurate recording of temperatures of foods in HACCP Logs as needed. Ensures all items are labeled and dated according to departmental guidelines. Ensures completion of daily, weekly and monthly cleaning assignments. Reports any safety concerns to a FANS Manager.
Checks and rearranges daily work assignments and break periods to ensure work
is completed according to schedule and standards. Reports any issues to FANS Manager for follow-up.
Provides on-the-job training and orientation for new FANS associates. Demonstrates ability to communicate and gain cooperation from many different personnel under sometimes conflicting circumstances.
Monitors food and physical safety throughout their shift, assist FANS associates on following proper food safety and physical safety protocols. Serves as owner of assigned area for food and physical safety standards. Reports any concerns to a FANS Manager.
Attends meetings as required to enhance knowledge, job skills, and communication within the department. Follows acceptable practices related to: safety, sanitation, infection control, quality control, and customer relations.
Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed. May assist in other areas as relief.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3 - 5 years related work experience, 2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Related food service knowledge and skills. Customer service and supervisory skills. Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
