Precision Health Clinical Coordinator

Job Description

The Precision Health Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating genetic and high-risk patient care, assisting with clinical operations, and supporting front office functions, including scheduling and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a patient-focused approach, and the ability to collaborate with both clinical and administrative teams.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate genetic testing and patient referrals by coordinating between providers, laboratories, and patients.
  • Assist in obtaining prior authorizations for genetic tests and procedures.
  • Communicate genetic test results and follow-up plans under provider guidance.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations both within and outside of the electronic health record.
  • Educate patients and families on genetic testing processes, appointments, and next steps.
  • Review provider referrals to ensure timely scheduling or identify issues with referral that the team needs to resolve before scheduling the patient.
  • Oversight of patient appointments, including new consultation and follow-up consults.
  • Manage patient inquiries, providing accurate information regarding appointments, procedures, and billing.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for visits and testing.
  • Ensure smooth front office operations by assisting with check-in, check-out, and documentation
  • Maintain all areas of compliance to ensure standards are met (OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA and medication management samples).
  • Development and implement downtime procedures
  • Assist with effective hiring, orientation and training of personnel to include the management and mentorship of staff. Assist with staffing ratio and manage turnover. Fill in for staff who are out or cover openings in office.
  • Support the Precision Medicine Business Manager and/or Executive Director in communicating goals and objectives, financial performance, and other defined performance objectives with physicians and team members.
  • Attend tumor boards, case conferences, and meetings with healthcare providers as needed for clinical specialty; provide expertise to committees within TCHHN (Precision Health Subcommittee, Cancer Committee, High Risk Cancer SOP Committee, etc.); maintain genetic standards for accreditation programs
  • Develop and assist with IT integrations for precision health team


Qualifications

EDUCATION:



Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, genetics, nursing, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a clinical coordination, genetic counseling support, or medical office administration role is highly desirable. Other, equivalent or similar experience may be considered.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:



• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.



• Excellent communication and patient service skills.



• Knowledge of medical terminology, especially related to genetics.



• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software.



• Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and administrative staff.
