Job Description
The main function of this position is to provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers, staff and employees. To assist and support the Safety/Security/Emergency Management and Parking management programs.
Responsibilities
- Patrol hospital property and/or facilities in an effort to ensure a safe and secure environment, performing duties outlined in department post orders and policies. In performance of their duties, officers are to cooperate with co-workers and other employees, be respectful and conduct themselves in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Treat all patients, visitors, and employees in a fair professional manner.
- Conduct inspections and documental potential and real security, health and safety hazards. Upon discovery, officers shall conduct initial investigation if needed and submit a safety reminder and/or Plant Operations request.
- Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including appearing in court, if necessary.
- Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents and policy violations, following up when necessary. Complete appropriate incident report, as outlined in department policy. Reports must be complete, clear, concise, accurate, and professional.
- Respond to all alarms and take action to normalize.
1. Discover source and/or cause of alarm.
2. Respond to panic alarms in a timely fashion.
3. Extinguish fire or contain incidents as necessary.
4. Control traffic in emergencies to maintain access for emergency vehicles.
5. Allow patient care to continue with the least interruptions.
6. After all clear - return alarm system to normal operation.
- Direct and control traffic/parking on property and in garages to ensure safe and expedient traffic flow. Enforce parking rules/regulations, issue citations, boot or tow violators as required by hospital policy
- Officers are required to operate and monitor all systems (Fire, Security/Access, Infant Security, etc.) in a proficient, competent manner.
- Officers are required to conduct assigned inspections of safety/security and fire system components, including monthly inspections of security systems and fire extinguishers.
- Officers are required to escort personnel to and from the cashier's office and other locations for the purpose of ensuring their personal safety. Officers are expected to escort visitors and employees to and from their vehicles upon request.
- Additional duties: Officers are required to perform all other duties assigned by department management. These duties include, but are not limited to: relieving base dispatcher, locking/unlocking doors and gates, handling lost and found property, handling radioactive package deliveries, motorist assists, medical assists (patient restraints), package/mail delivery, morgue releases, helicopter landing safety, and informational hospital ambassador
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: High School Graduate, Private Police Training or equivalent.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Previous Security experience preferred.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid drivers license with appropriate endorsement
