Assistant Teacher - Nursing - CON Student Services - Full Time - Varies

Job Description

Implements optimal learning experiences for nursing students in the clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings at the direction of/with guidance from masters-prepared faculty. Contributes to the college's operational effectiveness through participation in governance and continuous evaluation of critical outcome measures. Reports directly to the Program Chair.

Responsibilities

Teaching: Implements and supervises clinical, lab, simulation learning experiences to facilitate students meeting clinical outcomes, utilizing faculty-provided guidelines.

  • Selects clinical experiences and clinical activities which foster the student's transfer of course theory to the practice setting.
  • Assists in interpreting the role of the student in the clinical area, including clinical outcomes, to managers/nursing personnel.
  • Implements clinical teaching strategies, based on current education and practice based research, with faculty guidance.
  • Provides both informal and formal feedback to students regarding clinical performance, utilizing objective, evaluative criteria.
  • Utilizes course and clinical evaluation surveys to assist in determining effectiveness of clinical experience.
  • Maintains expertise in the assigned area of clinical responsibility, teaching and professional nursing practice.
  • Assists with course orientation.
  • Demonstrates openness to suggestions from peers, managers and students.


Contributes to the operational effectiveness of the college. (Service)

  • Supports the Mission and strategic plan of the college.
  • Proactively participates in the development and evaluation of the college's educational program.
  • Participate in faculty governance system, including committee assignments and other service activities.


Role models professional growth and development. (Scholarship)

  • Maintains active licensure(s) as required.
  • Attends development seminars/workshops and in-services.
  • Maintains professional and legal standards in relation to client care, appearance and conduct.
  • Participates scholarly activities.


Performs other role related responsibilitie

  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Attend required college functions, such as pinning, graduation, and other events as specified by the Program Chair


Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  2. Completion of an approved professional registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction defined in the OAC.


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  1. Experience of at least two years in the practice of professional nursing as a registered nurse is required.
  2. Teaching experience preferred.


LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio
  2. Current, active Kentucky and/or Indiana licensure may also be required following appointment.
  3. BLS certification required.
