Job Description

The Night Weekend BSN Program Chair at The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences is responsible for the leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of the Night and Weekend pathway of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Program Chair ensures that the BSN pathway delivers a high-quality, evidence-based education that prepares students to excel in the nursing profession. The role involves managing faculty, curriculum, accreditation, and student success efforts, as well as fostering relationships with healthcare partners for clinical placements.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Program Administration:

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Night and Weekend pathway of the BSN program, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and the evolving needs of the nursing profession.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Night and Weekend pathway of the BSN curriculum to ensure academic rigor and compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, ACEN).
  • Monitor program effectiveness through assessment of student learning outcomes, licensure pass rates, and employer feedback.
  • Oversee all aspects of program accreditation and ensure adherence to state board of nursing requirements.


Faculty & Staff Management:

  • Recruit, hire, and retain qualified nursing faculty, fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship, professional development opportunities, and performance evaluations for nursing faculty and staff.
  • Schedule and manage faculty teaching loads and clinical assignments to ensure a well-balanced workload and program coverage.


Student Support & Success:

  • Ensure students receive high-quality advising and mentorship throughout their BSN program, from orientation to graduation.
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing student retention, progression, and graduation rates.
  • Work closely with clinical faculty and preceptors to ensure students are receiving appropriate clinical education and preparation for practice.
  • Address student concerns related to academic performance, clinical experiences, or other program matters.


Accreditation, Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure that the Night and Weekend pathway of the BSN program meets and maintains accreditation standards, preparing reports and documentation as needed for accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and assess NCLEX-RN pass rates, and lead faculty efforts to implement improvements if necessary.
  • Ensure that all clinical sites meet regulatory and educational standards and maintain necessary agreements with clinical partners.


Curriculum Development & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead curriculum development and revisions based on best practices, emerging trends in healthcare, and the needs of the nursing profession.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate innovative teaching methodologies, simulation, and technology into the curriculum.
  • Coordinate with institutional research teams to collect and analyze data for ongoing program improvement and strategic planning


Budgeting & Resource Allocation:

  • Assist in managing the Night and Weekend pathway of the BSN program's budget, including the allocation of resources for faculty development, student support services, and instructional materials.
  • Identify opportunities for external funding, grants, and scholarships that support program initiatives and student success.


External Relations & Clinical Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare organizations to secure clinical placements and job opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners to ensure clinical education experiences align with professional standards and meet the learning needs of students.
  • Represent the BSN program in nursing associations, conferences, and professional networks to enhance the program's reputation.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: Master's degree in Nursing required, Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, or EdD in Nursing) preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing education, with experience in a leadership or administrative role.
  • Demonstrated experience with nursing accreditation processes and curriculum development.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in clinical practice and the healthcare environment.
